Research and Development Institute, Nakhon Phanom University Holds SIA & SROI Workshop
20–21 August 2026 — The Research and Development Institute of Nakhon Phanom University organized a workshop on Social Impact Assessment (SIA) and Social Return on Investment (SROI). The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Dr. Surasit Wachirakhachon, Vice President for Research and Academic Services, while Assistant Professor Dr. Khomsak Hanchai, Director of the Research and Development Institute, delivered the opening report. The event took place at the Lecture and Seminar Room, 2nd Floor, Digital Technology Division Building, Nakhon Phanom University.
The workshop featured guest speakers from Khon Kaen University, led by Professor Dr. Thidarat Boonmas, Vice President for Enterprise and Sustainable Society, together with Assistant Professor Dr. Jakraphan Suksawat and Assistant Professor Dr. Siwaporn Fongthong from the Faculty of Economics, as well as the team from the Center for Enterprise and Sustainable Society. Introduction to the SROI KKU Platform
During the practical sessions, participants explored case studies based on projects from Nakhon Phanom University. Project owners presented their initiatives, followed by workshops in which participants collected project data, analyzed outcomes, and evaluated the social impacts of four university projects before presenting their findings.
The workshop aimed to strengthen the knowledge and practical skills of researchers, university staff, and related personnel in applying Social Impact Assessment (SIA) and Social Return on Investment (SROI). These tools are essential for demonstrating the social value and cost-effectiveness of research and academic service projects that contribute to the sustainable development of communities, society, and local regions.
